Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

Few Areas Impact Facial Appearance More Than the Nose

Rhinoplasty surgery (also know as a “nose job”) is a cornerstones of any cosmetic surgery practice. With years of specialization in nasal anatomy, physiology and cosmetic principles, facial plastic surgeons are the experts in rhinoplasty. Because nasal surgery is also one of the most difficult procedures to perfect, Dr. Mark Been has dedicated a significant portion of his practice to this discipline.

The size and shape of your nose significantly affects the overall appearance of your face. Because of that, it can play a significant role in one’s self image. Many people are bothered by the appearance of their nose, for various reasons. Rhinoplasty surgery can dramatically enhance your appearance by making the desired changes. These adjustments can be substantial or subtle, depending on your desired outcomes. This surgery can also be performed for reconstructive purposes, to correct birth defects, or to address breathing problems.

Is Rhinoplasty Right for You?

Rhinoplasty can be customized to make a number of changes:

  • Improve your profile by removing a bump or lifting the nasal tip
  • Eliminate contour irregularities
  • Change the size and shape of the nasal tip
  • Alter the size of the nose
  • Modify the shape and size of nostrils
  • Improve nasal breathing
  • Correct nasal symmetry
  • Fix previously broken noses

What to Expect after your Rhinoplasty

After your nasal surgery, a splint will be placed on your nose for the first week of recovery. During this time, it is normal to experience swelling and bruising under your eyes and between your eyebrows. You can start to apply makeup to these areas immediately after surgery. There will also be some internal nasal swelling, so your breathing may feel stuffy after surgery.

After the splint is removed, you will see an immediate difference. The good news is that your nose will continue to look better and better with each passing week. Final results are achieved usually six weeks to several months after surgery, depending on individual healing characteristics.
